Oh my goodness, it is so refreshing to read a book that is not only original and inventive, but incredibly entertaining. Set in Nebraska, crime is on the rise, a new warlord seems to have power over the other Sudanese, murder and intimidation are his weapons. A group of wealthy men and women come up with a unique solution, using elderly police in a most unusual way. Love that this book features the elderly, showing that one may be broken down in body, but still useful to society, strong in mind. Using talents they learned from years protecting the public, walking the streets.This book is so much fun, I laughed often while reading, and some of the visuals created by the written scenes are beyond priceless. These old cops use some unusual weapons, some quite nasty. The way they work together, protect each other is commendable. I fell in love with these characters, old men and young alike.
So call this a spoof, a caper, a free for all, any will fit, but regardless this is well worth reading. I wish a system like this actually existed, a place where one doesn't just grow older and pass away, but can use their talents in a unique way until the end. I hope there will be a further episode featuring these old blues, I can use all the humor I can get. Well done, Mr. .LeGrow

I loved this book. I spent years working in criminal justice. It does my heart good to see the good guys win. Personally I think it is a great idea to have an Old Blue Squad. Just because these Cops get old doesn't mean they lose their usefulness. This book has it's light moments, but I feel it also has a deeper point. I know some older Cops who would make great Old Blues. I highly recommend this book.
I loved this book! So often, and sadly, the elderly are simply not seen, because of their age. But think of the knowledge and wisdom they have! This book was gripping, thoughtful, funny, and makes you think. Read it...you won't be disappointed.
Its a great and entertaining book to read. I love the antics of the Ol Blues. They were always one step ahead of their target Chubba. The characters showed that the old way police worked was just as good as the police as today who had more technology than the Ol Blues had in their days. My favorite character was Tiny. Working with the Ol Blues seemed to give him a new lease on life. I would love to see what they are up to in a sequel. Job well done Chris. Keep them coming.
The Ol' Blues will leave you in stitches. Brandishing their own for m of intelligence gathering and police procedures they assist the local police old school style. Characters like Tiny, Sarge and Smitty make it hard not to love their antics and use of old fashion policing. Between keeping Boss Nurse and the medical staff out of their "business", Sarge directs community policing with accuracy. All done through the local Crime Stoppers tip line. Hilarious easy read.
This is a must read. The characters are wonderful, and the Ol' Blue characters are just that -- lovable, funny, determined, off-kilter characters. Some parts of this were so funny that I had tears running down my legs! And other parts make you wish this group of retirees (and their backers) were a reality living the crime-fighting life in your town. And there is a touch of sadness in realizing that what they said is true -- nobody sees you when you're old -- you just become invisible.
This book was so amazing.... I was laughing and intrigued with the storyline. I bought the book and had to download the audible application to hear the book while I was on the road and kept me laughing as well. I really like the story about a small town in the midwest and the big life of Omaha, NE. The story about retired police officers having fun and feeling alive as they solve crimes; these very well trained retired police officers direct the rookies to find the evidence and catch the bad guys. You must get this book/audible. I can't wait for the movie to be made.
I would highly recommend this book! It shows that when you get older you still have valuable skills that can be used to assist our society. Our culture does not usually appreciate the " old and retired." It usually focuses on being young and beautiful. The book was funny, clever, delightful and insightful. It is also shows us how much we should appreciate the "Blues" who often give their lives to protect us. (Especially now where there seems to be an increased number of people who want to kill our policemen and women.)
He author's writing is fast paced and keeps the reader wanting to see how inventive the "Old Blues" can be. Yes, old dogs can really learn new tricks even though they still want to peck out their reports on an old typewriter! Thanks for a GREAT READ!!
