The only clue to Nicodemus's past is the ruby crucifix found in his swaddling clothes when he was abandoned at a monastery. The boy grows up to become a fierce Templar who fights for God, but the gruesome carnage of battle weighs heavily upon his conscience. His faith is further tested by Gweneth, the woman who haunts his thoughts and stirs forbidden desires. Set in 12th century England, FORBIDDEN is a compelling tale of sibling rivalry, greed, deception, and a knight's honor.

I would have given this story five stars (it is well written, although, like all De Melo novels, it tends to drag at first, then charges to the end), but the copy editing is atrocious. It's quite obvious that spell check and grammar check were given free rein, and if a human being copy edited this novel, someone please take his/her favorite red pen and break it. If you are in need of a copy editor by education and experience, I would be happy to take over the position of whomever holds it now. That the novel is lacking is really not the fault of its author...it's directly the fault of the person who pretended to copy edit an otherwise delicious novel that leaves its readers wanting more.Product details

Forbidden A Novel Set in Medieval England edition by C De Melo Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Excellent read. Highly recommend....
Good book. Fast read. Kept my interest.
Just when you think you know what is going to happen, you get a twist. I truly enjoyed reading this, and will tell my fellow readers about it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book! The characters were very well created and the story line was fast paced. I didn't want it to end but at the same time I wanted to know what happens.
It's been quite a long time since a book has reduced me to tears. I had a hard time putting the novel down, even stealing a moment or 2 at work.
I have read only the first three chapters, and normally I would wait until I finish the book to write a review, but honestly, I don't know that I'll finish this one. Here is a woman whose husband forcibly tore their infant son away from her to an unknown fate, causing her immeasurable pain and heartbreak, and within just a few pages, she's totally turned on by him and willing to have sex with him again. Makes me think that either she's out of her mind or just completely shallow. What mother could possibly want to have sex with a man who ripped her infant away from her and refuses to tell her what he did with it? Sorry, I like the idea and the time period, but the story and the characters lack credibility as far as I'm concerned. Too bad. I wanted so much to like it.
I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the first book I've read by this author and look forward to reading more. The storyline was well written and character development was good.
